Tampa, Florida

Tampa is the third most heavily populated city in Florida and one of the favorite tourist destinations in this sunny state. The city is a mixture of residential neighborhoods and commercial centers and is also known for its historical structures.

Aside from its lucrative tourism industry, Tampa also maintains progressive finance, real estate, and insurance industries with offices in the city's business district. Some of the giant multinational companies have regional offices in Tampa. Although most areas in Tampa are classified as residential, the city is currently undertaking redevelopment projects to put up residential sections in the Downtown area which is known as the city's financial district. Davis Island and Harbour Island are two high-end residential sections located near Downtown Tampa.

The seaport of Tampa is also another prized asset. It currently ranks seventh in the country's largest ports and receives the largest tonnage in all of Florida. The port also makes good business with cruise ship travel. It is currently the port of call for Carnival's Legend and Inspiration, Holland America's MS Veendam, Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas and also accommodates smaller cruise ships that operate in the region.

Tampa is home to more than 300,000 people, around 64 percent of whom are Whites. Blacks make up 26 percent of the total population while a smaller percentage are Asians, Latinos, and other mixed races.
